How do you know what’s broken?
Check for cracked glass that has caused such a force to distort the image, turning all or part of the screen black, white, and can appear runny like a leaking fluid. When looking for signs of cracked glass and LCD display make sure to look with a very bright light with the screen on and off.
Product Design
The iPhone 4uses a single assembly that includes the main LCD and glass (digitizer). Unfortunately with the 4th Generation devices the glass and LCD are integrated and molded together during the manufacturing process, this forces you to replace both the glass and LCD even if you require just a glass repair.
